Auburn, AL (WIAT)-Auburn will leave the confines of Jordan Hare Stadium for their first road test against their SEC West Rival LSU. Gus Malzahn says this is a typical LSU team and the environment inside Tiger Stadium hasn’t changed.
“They are very good up front on both sides of the football,” said Malzahn. ”They have a lot of speed in all positions.”
Auburn Tight End C.J. Uzomah added, “It’s something that we need to embrace, you know it’s going to be loud. We are going to have to calm the young guys down and help them understand that it’s just crowd noise.”
LSU quarterback Zach Mettinberger leads the SEC in pass efficiency and has thrown for 797 yards and 9 touchdowns.
“He is a dual threat,” said Auburn Linebacker Jake Holland. ”He can throw the ball and he is obviously a smart player so he’s a manager, he’s a game manager.”
Auburn on the other hand leads the SEC in redzone scoring percentage, and is just one of 10 teams in the nation with a perfect mark.
“Three points isn’t what we are striving for and isn’t what we need to win a game, especially in the SEC and especially in big games such as last week,” said Uzomah. ”Coach really emphasizes redzone offense and he has more plays in the redzone on each hash and each landmark than he does anywhere else on the field.”
LSU has won 26 of its last 27 home games in Death Valley. Historically speaking these two teams bring out plenty of unpredictable scenarios when they get together. Expect the unexpected in prime time Saturday night at 6:45p.m.
