HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) – A fundraiser for the Homewood Police Department brought officers together with the community and a former governor in Rosewood Hall on Tuesday.
Former Governor Bob Riley spoke at the event, where donors and officers had the chance to meet and greet each other.
The point of the Homewood Police Foundation fundraiser is to improve the lives of public safety officers in ways that wouldn’t be possibly using public money alone.
“So, by doing [the fundraiser], they allow our officers to involve with the public in a different kind of way,” said Deputy Chief Bob Copus with the Homewood Police Department. “There are certain kinds of schooling that ordinarily you wouldn’t get through training, but you can do it through a foundation.”
