CARBON HILL, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: The meeting was called and adjourned abruptly before it even got started.
The interim mayor reportedly did not want to have a “dog and pony show” type of event on his hands at the meeting.
CBS42 will have more on CBS42 News at 10.
ORIGINAL: Carbon Hill Mayor James “Pee Wee” remains in the Walker County Jail Thursday night on sexual abuse, custodial sexual misconduct, harassment and soliciting prostitution charges.
A bond reduction hearing is set for Friday.
However, people in the city are looking for answers about the future.
Thursday night, the city council met for the first time since the news broke of Richardson’s arrest.
The city attorney says Richardson had taken medical leave the day before he was charged due to heart problems he was experiencing.
An interim mayor was already in place at the time of Richardson’s arrest.
The council is expected to discuss the mayor’s situation at some point during Thursday night’s meeting.
The City of Carbon Hill is named in a civil suit from one of the female inmates who made allegations of misconduct.
