TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – Olivia Mills always served as an inspiration to her friends and family. In just 17 years, she became an inspiration to perfect strangers. Counselors from across Tuscaloosa County spent the day with students at Sipsey Valley High School helping students with the coping process.
The flag is flying at half-staff to honor Olivia Mills. The faculty and staff also set up a memorial to the popular student. Mills was very involved in organizations and athletics, but those who knew her say, she was a caring generous spirit.
The family will say their goodbyes to Olivia Mills during a private memorial service On Tuesday.
Olivia Mill’s life, and fight for life, influenced people well outside Alabama. Shortly after the accident last Sunday, a facebook page appeared online. That page has now been ‘liked’ by more than 40,000 people.
When her story was shared on a blog, it was seen by people in 23 countries. Those who know Olivia say more than anything she wanted to be a positive example of a Christian to those around her. Friends spoke about her faith and dedication to family. Olivia would have graduated this year with the class of 2014.
