WASHINGTON D.C. (WIAT) – It’s the trip of a lifetime for the men whose service has defined our lifetimes.
On a rainy day, 98 World War II and Korean War veterans boarded a plane for Washington D.C. to see their respective memorials. It’s a trip that they have waited decades to take.
For many of the veterans travelling through the Tuscaloosa Rotary Club, this trip wouldn’t have been possible without the Honor Flight, which enables veterans to go at no cost.
Seeing the memorials was especially emotional for many of the veterans, but many say there favorite part of the trip was the hero’s welcome they received everywhere they went.
