Did you like today’s gorgeous weather? Then just wait, even warmer days are ahead. There will be one minor interruption before they arrive as a weak cool front slips across the state Thursday night. That will touch off a shower chance for Friday morning. However, that front will pretty much fizzle over the weekend. As temperatures climb into the mid 80s this weekend, the left-over front could be focal point for late-day showers. However, whatever does form will be isolated. While severe weather had been rare for the whole country this April, that could change this weekend as a vigorous storm system emerges from the central Plains. There is the possibility of damaging storms including tornadoes Saturday and Sunday. As that system rolls east of the Mississippi Monday and Tuesday, we’ll have to monitor the threat for us. It’s still a little uncertain right now as to whether that system will head right for us or move to our north.
For the rest of this afternoon, expect warm conditions with clear skies. After sunset, temperatures will gradually cool off with overnight lows in the low 50s with some upper 40s possible in far northern suburbs. Thursday starts sunny with high clouds drifting in by late afternoon. Warm with highs near 80°. Thursday night sees increasing clouds with showers moving through during the Friday morning rush hour. Overnight lows in the low 60s. Friday afternoon will be mostly sunny and warm with highs in the low 80s. Saturday sees a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid 80s. Sunday will be just as warm or even slightly warmer with partly cloudy skies and a chance for an isolated late-day shower. Monday will be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely by afternoon. Tuesday could be a very stormy day, depending on the track of the weekend plans storms
