Brush fire on the Homewood and Vestavia line contained

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) —  UPDATE (2x): The Homewood Fire Department says the fire has been contained.

The Vestavia Fire Department still has crews on the scene to make sure there are no more flare ups.

UPDATE: No homes have been evacuated on the Vestavia side of the fire, but homeowners in the area say they are concerned about the fire spreading to their houses.

Homewood Fire Chief John Bresnan says he is not comfortable saying the fire is “under control” at this time.

ORIGINAL: A brush fire on the Vestavia and Homewood line prompted the response from more than one fire crew on Monday evening.

Fire crews from Homewood and Vestavia are on the scene of a brush fire near Brookwood Village.

According to Homewood Fire Chief John Bresnan, the fire started by power lines behind Brookwood Dental Clinic.

He says there are some challenges with the weather, water freezing and firefighters getting cold that are having to be taken into consideration.
