Some areas still without power in Walker County

Power lines and pylons

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Emergency Management Agency (EMA) officials in Walker County say a large portion of the county is without power.

As of 9 a.m., Sipsey, Piney Woods and portions of Cordova are without power.

The EMA director says issues like this happen when the temperatures drop and the system gets overloaded.

EMA officials encourage neighbors to check on the elderly. If they need a ride to the warming station in Jasper, call (205) 348-7233.
