Couples exchange vows at Vulcan Park on Valentine’s Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Timothy Davis’ wedding day was the first time he saw his wedding venue and the view that comes with it.

“This is the first time I’ve ever been up here. Beautiful,” Davis said.

But just minutes before the wedding, there was a different view he couldn’t wait to see — his wife-to-be.

Timothy and Meghan were one of 12 couples to exchange vows at Vulcan Park on Valentine’s Day.

In all, there are a dozen ceremonies held at the park, which is a park record, according to John Persons.

“Last year we performed seven or eight,” Persons said.

“Last year we had a little break in between lunchtime,” added Cristina Almanca. “This time, we’re starting right now and we’re not stopping until six tonight.”

To make sure every couple got their special day, each ceremony was 30 minutes long.

Wedding professionals volunteered time and supplies for the occasion. Everything from the tent to the cake only cost each couple $400.

As for Timothy and Meghan, they say 30 minutes was just enough time to have their dream wedding and make a few memories with family that they will never forget.

“It’s overwhelming. It’s so beautiful, I just wanted to cry. I wanted to cry. It’s so pretty,” Meghan said.

Vulcan Park is already taking reservations for next year’s Valentine’s Day, so those who are interested should give them a call.
