TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — The owner of a Tuscaloosa bail bonding company was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder.

Investigators say a bondee was called to the shop to sign court papers relating to a missing court date, but he was really about to be re-arrested.

When he arrived and realized what was about to happen, a scuffle broke out.

Police say the owner of Jailbusters, James McGiboney, pushed the man through a glass door and fired two shots.

One of the bullets hit the victim in the arm as he tried to run away.

A Good Samaritan took him to DCH Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery.  He is expected to make a full recovery.

McGiboney told investigators he didn’t mean to harm the victim.

He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail and bonded out on a $60,000 bond.
