Cottondale church opens doors nearly three years after tornado

COTTONDALE, Ala. (WIAT) — Back and better than ever after being destroyed by the April 27. 2011, tornadoes, the church formerly known as Alberta Church of God is read to debut its new look.

Additionally, the church has a new building just off Highway 11 North in Cottondale.

The church is now called Lifepoint Church of God.

Church leaders say Sunday was the culmination of a three-year long process that was divinely inspired.

“The doors just opened, and this properly became available and the building process began. We’re excited today,” said Stephanie Schwartz.

Church organizers say they helped fund the building and all its furnishings with fundraisers, including a car and bike show.
